I’d seen haus! outlets around plenty of times — the franchise seems to have a presence in almost every city. Going by the name alone, I always assumed it was just another sweet drinks player. Turns out I wasn’t entirely right.

What I didn’t know is that haus! now sells a variety of snacks with customisable seasoning — like at this outlet on Jl. Supomo in Solo. The packaging design is genuinely impressive: thick-walled and well-made. The seasoning itself is well-balanced — applied fresh on the spot, not overdone, and evenly coated. Being a spice fan, I went for the tempe crisps and basreng. The tempe crisps were satisfyingly crunchy and full of flavour, and the basreng wasn’t tough and chewy the way it can be at most small-batch vendors.

Safe to say I’ll be a returning customer, hehe.
